Band 7.0 Sample: In spite of advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry. Why is this the case? What can be done about this problem?
Introductory Statement:
Though there are much advancement made in agriculture field, but still there are many people who are suffering from hunger. This essay intends to elaborate, firstly that how over population has lead to this problem of hunger and secondly the role of government to tackle this problem.
Body Paragraph 1:
Nowadays, the ever-increasing population is a major problem that has lead to many social problems. One of which is hunger. The population of consumers is way more than the production of food. The increasing population has lead to the destruction of forests and agricultural land for provision of houses. Moreover, the production of the food is very low as compared to the population. For example, a survey was conducted by an NGO ‘Flying Birds’ according to which 10% of the agriculture land is used for housing purposes with every passing decade.
Body Paragraph 2:
Government should take measures to control the population of the country. So that production of food can cop-up with the number of consumers. Secondly, only infertile land should be used for making building rather than the fertile one. The abandoned building can also be used for new construction. Moreover, government can export the food from other countries while making tackling with the hunger in the country. For example, an article was published by the newspaper the Hindustan Times which predicted that increase in agriculture land mass will ease the problem of hunger.
Conclusion:
To conclude this essay, due to over population land is given for the new construction and food production is getting low. So government should preserve some area for the agriculture purpose only.
