Band 8 Sample: Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after their citizens themselves.
Introductory Statement:
Wealthy nations and poor countries both have their fare share of responsibility and station in the world. One is trying to create a technologically advanced and a harmonic civilization and the other is trying to get out of the pit of poverty and illiteracy and thus longing to get liberated. It creates an imbalance between these different civilizations. It becomes necessary that the water flows to the lower pits so the whole species advances forward as one. At the same time, such power of wealth also needs to be monitored so it doesn’t eats away the little guy in the block. If we zoom out of the Google maps using Satellite mode, we never see borders. The idea of Us and Them only exists in our collective imagination.
Body Paragraph 1:
All these nations have been through a multitude of problems, be it civil wars, plague, 2 world wars, genocide. But through experiments, intelligence and a lot of adversity they sprouted out if it. This doesn’t mean that adversity should be the only blueprint of wealth and prosperity. Take India for example, Just 70 years ago Indians were slaves and had been like that for more than 400 years. It took a great deal of will, patience and death to liberate India. When the crisis came to its neighboring country Sri Lanka, India stepped in to help, through charity, food, immigration and employment.
Body Paragraph 2:
The flip side to this charity is also something that shouldn’t be ignored. Governments of struggling nations do hold a responsibility towards their citizens and should not just rely on the upper hand. Today in 2022, wealthy countries are generous enough to help the struggling countries. This is something that comes as natural to all those in power to help the little guy in the block. Having said that, every country creates a debt in their bank by taking help from those countries which are known to execute their power and authority later. Take East India Company from British, who came in India to increase trade, but later overpowered them and took control. Indians were gullible and naive to let go of the control so easily and couldn’t see the parasite taking birth.
Conclude:
Taking both trail of thoughts into account, it is clear that the wealthy nations hold a responsibility towards the world to share their knowledge, education and Food. At the same time, a stubborn smartness is required by the poorer nations to watch the hand that is giving them the bread and knowledge, so Imperialism doesn’t root out and whole world advances forward as a collective species.
